June in Bloom
As I write this I'm struggling to reconcile the date on the calendar with reality. How is July less than two weeks away?!
Each time I visit the garden there's even more colors to behold. In this photo alone a sharp eye might spy lavender, white clover, fireweed, chamomile, portulaca, tasteless stonecrop, wild strawberries, and a couple dead-headed Blue Boy Bachelor's Button. And aurinia that hasn’t flowered yet. I look forward to September, when colors will be at their most prominent.Lunchbox peppers have begun flowering. I'm thrilled to find some milkweed growing in the corner here too! Last fall I scattered milkweed seeds in this area (which I had completely forgotten about until I saw these guys pop up!).
To the right you can see my trellising attempt. I picked up this Marketmore cucumber pair after I thought one of my lemon cucumbers had died. After I planted these in the ground of course the lemon cuke perked right back up. That's okay though, I don't think there is such as thing as too many fresh garden cucumbers.

The aforementioned lemon cucumbers. I'm trying this dead-simple "trellis" wherein I scoot the twine up the stake a tiny bit each time I check in. We'll see how well it goes once things are actually fruiting!
One of the most surprising flowers I've planted this year is Nemophila maculata also known as fivespot. This photo was taken after I deadheaded the entire plant a few days prior. As we head deeper into summer I'm finding that the flowers are less prolific.
